The Day-To-Day

Happy New Year, and well wishes to all!

For a long time I have been planning things, and it is only recently that I have had the clarity, time, and self-(re)acquaintance to push toward them. Moving away from Windows. Moving away from Google, etc. Setting goals for life in general, and in music, chess, and relationships old and new. Adhering to the schedule set for myself. Being attentive to the cycles. Moving with purpose and resolve.

As it has been always: It’s “put up or shut up” time. “The only thing to it, is to do it” time. “The proof is in the pudding (putting)” time. Every act is / was acted. The difference is in doing, and remember…

The living stand upon the shoulders of the dead.

Do good things, and speak well!

An observation:

Allowing the mind time to relax and review is as important to learning and progress as the experience acquired. Occasionally, I get so caught in a cycle of working for completion, and / or letting perfection be the enemy of good, that I can’t see the forest for the trees. These are moments of opportunity. They offer a chance to step back and decouple actions from their intended results. To re-evaluate if the effort fits the aim. If the ultimate purpose is worthy.

Do good things!

Finally, last night, I setup a GitHub account and a VS Code Server to centralize my scripts and other random code that I often use. It’s a nice change and chance to start giving back to the Open Source community, from which I have learned a great deal of my computer knowledge!

I just completed some basic tutorials to familiarize myself with both VS Code and GitHub. Once things are up and running, and I release some stuff (mainly simply scripts that I use, and some tutorials,) I’ll let you all know!

Have fun, and do good!

Relaxing indoors on a cold Saturday afternoon, while enjoying the ease of setting up a website with Obsidian and Quartz. I wrote a bash script to automatically publish updates to the notes to the web server via rsync. This allows me to make changes from anywhere, save them, have the VM (Virtual Machine with Obsidian automatically syncing notes) pick up the changes and sync them to this website. Instant updates! Time saver. Game changer.

I’ll publish a tutorial later if anyone is interested. Have fun and remember to be kind! Especially randomly so!
